Elective subject
Functional Neurological Disorders (FND)
FND reflect impairments in brain networks that lead to distressing motor, sensory and/or cognitive symptoms. The symptoms are often considered by large parts of the medical community and the public to be non-objectifiable, “purely psychological” or simulated. These assumptions are not only wrong, but also complicate the path to diagnosis and treatment for those affected considerably. The aim of this elective is to provide information about FND from a wide range of perspectives - from the clinical to the scientific and therapeutic level. We would like to offer this interdisciplinary elective in various degree programs in order to make different disciplines aware of this disease at an early stage of their studies.
Study program, discipline and semester: For students of medicine as well as Bachelor students of psychology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy/logopedics, nursing, applied nursing science, midwifery science
